A lot of couples, especially brides-to-be, want to have their dream wedding. From wearing their dream wedding gowns, choosing a spectacular venue, to ring shopping. Planning a civil wedding can be one of the most exciting yet nerve-racking experience ever. However, there is no denying that weddings nowadays can be expensive.

There are a lot of budget wedding ideas in the Philippines that couples can get inspiration from. However, some couples opt to spend grandly at their weddings. After all, a wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime moment, so it’s not a bad thing to make it the best one yet. Then again, not everyone has that considerable amount of money to pull off a grand wedding with 200 guests on the list.

A simple planning guide for a civil wedding

There is no right or wrong when it comes to spending on your big day. If you have enough budget to pull off a grand wedding, then why not? Meanwhile, some couples choose to be practical on their wedding day. Some couples choose to be wed in a church, while others prefer a civil wedding.

There are reasons why couples choose a civil wedding. Perhaps one partner comes from a different religious background (or does not belong in a religious sector), so getting wed in a church is not an option. On the other hand, some couples choose to get married civilly first to legalize their union. They can, later on, decide whether they want to push for a church wedding.

Nevertheless, a civil wedding is a legitimate option to get married sans the religious ceremonies present in a church wedding. The requirements for a civil wedding is almost similar to that of a church wedding, including a marriage license. In a civil wedding, town mayors, municipal or city judges, and pastors are among those who are allowed to officiate.

Civil weddings can be held in a public venue. Some are held in the judge’s chamber or the mayor’s office. However, the good news is that it can also be held in an event venue of your choice. Fees can be higher if you prefer to get married on the weekend or if it is set in a specific place.

Tips for planning for your civil wedding

  • You can hire a photographer to take photos of you on your big day. You can also ask a friend if you don’t have the budget to hire a professional photographer during the day. Ask your guests to tag you on their photos when they post it on their social media accounts.
  • You can hire a catering supplier or rent your favorite restaurant for the reception.
  • You can include other traditions present in a church wedding, such as cake cutting or bouquet throwing. Make it your own because it’s your special day.

A wedding doesn’t have to hurt your wallet or bank account. You only have to take the necessary steps to have a budget-friendly but beautiful civil wedding ceremony.
